About
Road2Code serves a dual purpose- first, it allows me to explore the pedagogy behind teaching python, enriching my knowledge of coding, but simultaneously, it also allows me to share my passion with others by making coding more accessible. The project focuses on culturally relevant education in programming, which, unfortunately, is relatively absent in India. Road2Code, thus, attempts to fill in this gap.
The first step to initiate the project has been the Road2Code YouTube channel as a learning lane, where I have developed a course in Python coding for everyone to enjoy! The unique aspect of the YouTube channel is that all the courses are open-access, and in Hindi. The series contains 8 lessons, and some of the videos include Introduction to Python, and The Fundamentals - Installing Python.
The next stage in the path to Python was to fundraise to purchase 2 HP Chromebooks for the NGO Hamari Pahchan in New Delhi, so that the students the organization works with could begin making inroads into learning how to code. Finally, in a bid to course through coding, 4 sessions were conducted with the students building on the lesson plans from the YouTube channel to teach them the basics of Python and then build on this foundational knowledge.
